Check the status of your e-file return online. There are three statuses:

  1. Pending: Your return is in pre-processing.


  2. Accepted: We received your return and have started processing it.


  3. Rejected: We found errors that need to be fixed before we can process your return.

    • We will provide information on how to fix each error we found.

To check the status of your e-file return, you will need:

  • A Web browser that supports
  • Your social security number.


  • The Declaration Control Number (DCN) from the top of either your:
    • California e-file Return Authorization for Individuals (form FTB 8453 or FTB 8453-OL)
    • California e-file Signature Authorization for Individuals (form FTB 8879)
    • California e-file Payment Record for Individuals (form FTB 8455)

Important! Obtaining taxpayer account information is the privilege of individual taxpayers or their authorized representatives. Unauthorized access to account information is unlawful as described in Section 502 of the California penal code.
