We left your social security number off your return to protect your privacy in the event that anything should happen to your ReadyReturn before you receive it.
- Do I need to attach my W-2 if I file my paper ReadyReturn?
- If you did not make any changes to your return, no.
- If you made changes and added additional income, yes. Attach all of your 2008 Forms W-2, W-2G, and 1099 that show California income tax withheld.
- What do I do if I need to add or change information on the ReadyReturn you sent me?
- To change your name or address, cross out the pre-printed information and write in the correct information.
- To change information that will change your tax liability, complete a new California Individual Income Tax Return. Refer to the tax booklet for instructions. Or, try ReadyReturn online.
- I noticed my dependent's name is missing from my ReadyReturn. Do I need to complete a new tax return or file online?
No. You can simply write in the name and relationship for each dependent you claim on line 10. If you need to change the number of dependents, you should complete a new California Individual Income Tax Return.
- I claimed the renter's credit last year, but it doesn't appear on my ReadyReturn. How do I claim it this year?
If you qualify to claim the nonrefundable renter's credit, there are three ways to claim it:
- Enter the credit amount on line 28 and adjust the numbers for all the following lines.
- Complete a new California Individual Income Tax Return, make sure to enter the credit amount on line 28.
- Use ReadyReturn online and follow the instructions to claim the credit.
- What do I need to mail to the Franchise Tax Board?
Mail your return and any payment. If you made any changes to your return, be sure to attach a copy of your Forms W-2, W-2G, 1099, etc., that show California income tax withheld. Refer to the Helpful Hints section of the tax booklet for more information.
